Plur Life
If you’ve ever attended a rave or electronic dance music festival, chances are you’ve heard people refer to themselves as having “PLUR life.”
The PLUR acronym stands for peace, love, unity and respect. It’s a mantra that ravers say to one another during festivals or events to spread the love.
Peace
Peace is an inner sense of being at peace with yourself and the world around you. Everyone’s experience of it may differ, but for many it’s a feeling of balance and serenity in daily life that makes everything else seem right with the world.
Though being peaceful doesn’t guarantee an effortless life, it does help you cope with challenges more effectively and joyfully than when stressed or overwhelmed. And best of all, being peaceful doesn’t need to be something permanent; it can be something you work on now and enjoy as you progress.
Starting off on your path towards wellness should begin by seeking inner peace. Once you’ve achieved that, make sure to maintain it as you progress forward.
It’s essential to recognize that you cannot control everything in life. That doesn’t mean you can’t make a difference or influence some things, but it means other elements must also come into play.
Another essential step for finding peace is to seek love rather than control people. Trying to control others usually puts your needs ahead of theirs and leads to conflict. But when you understand that each person has their own struggles too, working together for a better future becomes much more achievable than trying to manage everyone.
Finally, one of the best ways to start is by dedicating some time each day to meditation and focusing on the present moment. This could include something as simple as focusing on an object in your environment and feeling grateful for it, or more complex such as attending a guided meditation session.
These steps aren’t difficult, but they do require practice and dedication. Additionally, being open about what’s going on in your life requires you to be honest with yourself about its challenges; this can be challenging at first. But once you get the hang of it, living will become much simpler for you as your days become fuller and more meaningful than ever before.
Love
Love is a complex emotion, encompassing many different feelings and attitudes. It has the power to shape and define many cultures around the world.
Cambridge Dictionary defines love as “a strong feeling of attraction to another adult, usually due to sexual attraction or romantic feelings”. People who are in love are known as lovers and may be physically, emotionally, or mentally drawn together.
We can also use the term to express the intense affection we feel for a friend, family member, or even our pet. This kind of love arises out of concern for another individual and our desire to do our part to help them out.
Agape, or unconditional love, is an enduring form of affection that never truly leaves you. It comes directly from God and cannot be taken away – even when we try to deny its existence. This kind of unconditional affection is commonly referred to as Agape.
Our culture often engages in debates about love and how it shapes our lives. Some say love is something you choose; others suggest it’s a biological trait programmed into us at birth.
Some claim it is both permanent and transitory, while others contend it comes and goes with the passage of time. No matter what it is, emotions such as love can have a powerful effect on our lives, bringing us feelings of peace, unity, and respect.
Psychologists have developed many theories about love and its various forms over the years. These perspectives differ from person to person and culture to culture.
The most prevalent theory of love is erotic love, which involves physical attraction. This type of connection develops quickly and leads to intense intimacy. Those who subscribe to this style tend to be emotionally distant and engage in games but may be willing to commit to one relationship before ending it.
Storge, on the other hand, is a more mature form of love that does not rely solely on physical attraction and encourages trusting in others. Those who adhere to this style prioritize having an intimate connection with someone who shares similar interests.
Unity
Unity is one of the most essential aspects of living a plur life. This means working together as one unit, respecting and appreciating each other as unique individuals, as well as sharing laughter and positive vibes with those around you.
Since the 1990s, PLUR–or Peace Love Unity and Respect–has been an omnipresent part of rave culture. This acronym stands for a set of behavioral and ethical guidelines used by ravers to help them be the best versions of themselves.
No, this is more than just a slogan; it’s an attitude. No matter if you’re at a rave or festival, having an attitude of positivity is the key to having an excellent night out.
Showing PLUR can be done in many ways, but the most elegant way is to give something of value to someone else who’s having a wonderful time. It could be a gift card to your favorite restaurant or something as simple as giving someone a piece of kandi – an adornment made up of round pony beads and letters with kind, cute or funny messages attached.
There are lots of PLUR-related activities you can try out. The best way to discover what else there is to do is by asking those closest to you for recommendations!
Respect
Respect is the feeling of admiration or excellence one person gives another. It is a fundamental characteristic of human nature and the foundation of religions around the world.
Respect in everyday life refers to the ability to foster relationships and bring peace into a situation. Furthermore, respect can contribute to conflict transformation by amplifying positive outcomes while decreasing negative ones.
In our society, the phrase “Respect is reciprocal” rings true: the amount of respect you receive depends on how much respect you show others. Showing respect can be demonstrated through active listening, offering assistance, and empathizing with people.
Respecting other people demonstrates your humanity and builds a trusting relationship. In return, they’ll feel good about themselves and want to do more for you in return.
Respect is the cornerstone of respect, and without kindness it’s impossible to serve others effectively – meaning they won’t value what you do for them.
It is human nature to show kindness to those whom one respects and values. If someone does not respect you, they are likely untrustworthy.
Someone who exhibits rudeness, crudeness and abuse without respect will likely be despised by those around them. On the other hand, someone who has mastered respect will be treated with dignity and esteem by all.
Respectful people not only demonstrate these exemplary behaviors, but they also exhibit compassion and empathy. They listen attentively to others’ views and take into account their suggestions when making decisions.
Respect is an integral element of interpersonal life and peacebuilding/conflict transformation. It allows one to build and sustain relationships, which in turn aids peace builders in rebuilding communities after events or wars.
